I want to back test your settings and run them on a demo.

Your settings are

default
AAA-20
BBB-1
Time Stop-1

trading-GPB/USD,EUR/USD
10 trades each pair

Is this correct

Earl..... Are you still running these settings.... I have been laying low until the new month starts so I can make the slow crawl back... I have been licking my wounds :):)

Earl
10-28-2008, 12:53 PM
Yup.....doing great....but I've capped it at 10 trades maximum 5 per pair using money management lotsize set to 0

I have a few sore toes but I'll ride it out with faps off near the end of the month

Short14

Thanks

That was a rough week last week for me..... :) Its easy to ride the wave up, but the crash on the way down can be a B---h Need to keep my fingers off the system..... Allan was talking about changing the Magic Order setting if you are trading more than 1 currency any idea what that is?

Earl
10-30-2008, 01:24 AM
ok...I tweeked the settings a little more...

to slow faps from trading against the trend...just move your bbb up to 8

if you are starting at 1000 bucks

I would set your lotsize to 0

lotrisk 1
stop time 1
number of trades 5 or which means your total risk will be 5%
aaa 20
bbb 8

everything can stay the same...I notice no difference when I changed the ma...
I tried ema sma wma 25 30 50 100 with out difference

200 doesn't work well on M! chart

In this sort of market I seem to be spinning my wheels...maybe I'll save my wounded account...

good luck all

good luck all

I never did figure out what the aaa and bbb do. What is the purpose of them?

I have backtestet it and the results are good.

tweek your bbb to 8...let faps run auto lot

if you do 2% risk and 10 trades with autolot stop time 1 no stoploss

with 10 grand this month it would make you like 400k...LOL

damn backtesting what a liar it is some times....because I can't be that good

20/1 aaa bbb are good settings. 20/8 is good too. 10 order trades are hard for me to deal with, but Earl, you're nuts so it suits you =P

Have you been running FAPS with those settings through these announcements, with success?

Earl
10-30-2008, 09:09 AM
Yes...and I think thats the only reason I didn't get blown out yesterday....:o

account still holding.....and this morning making a comeback... with about 20 or so good trades over night.

let faps do the money management...it works well:)

I would love to set 30EMA but that function doesn't seem to work.

Earl have you test it on an real account?

Earl
10-30-2008, 10:34 AM
of course....got it on my live account right now...

you try harder to find your way when your losing money for real...LOL

since I made the change last night I already see some improvement...but only time will tell

killed GBPUSD btw....you can't back test 2 different currency pairs at once...so trading more than 1 pair is off into unknown territory.....

you can test them seperately but I'm using money management and it doesn't seem to work out...

so basically "ONE BAND! ONE SOUND!"

2 pairs is like walking in the dark...can't test your results

Earl,

In your back testing you used the M5 chart.

My question is what chart do you use on your demo or live account - the M1 or M5 chart?

I am presently running a back test for the last week with your settings on the M1 chart and so far it looks promising. I'll let you know the results.

Thanks,

Russell

Earl
11-02-2008, 02:05 AM
I use the m1 chart to trade..like suggested by faps.

m5 chart is good for testing because you get Modelling quality of 90.00% vs the m1 chart 25%

But I have thought bout butting faps on a m5 chart...

my current setting have brought 2 of my live accounts back to life.
Lets see what happens next week.

it's not always fool proof...I wish it was...

I also hope that someone comes up with some good settings that will make money all the time...I don't know if it's lack of data but backtesting month by month before 2007 doesn't seem to work well for me.

echaz
11-02-2008, 08:44 AM
well earl my settings work very well for 2 weeks now.. I've traded 24/5 and got no losses in the time of 2 weeks of trading.

i have a 1k$ demo mini account with ibfx and trade on the m1 chart with the following settings:

lots: 0.1
maxorders: 5
stoploss: 300
takeprofit: 20
trailing stop: 15
rest is default.

i've found those settings on the internet.

the only thing i worry about is that fap trades often in only 1 direction. i often saw that fap opened all 5 orders as sell orders and this is very dangerous i believe.
does anybody know a solution for that?

Willsell
11-02-2008, 08:55 AM
Earl..... Are you still running these settings.... I have been laying low until the new month starts so I can make the slow crawl back... I have been licking my wounds :):)

I would like to extend my thanks to you guys. I have been struggling with the settings for over a month with dismal results live and demo ().
After applying your settings my back test has yielded desirable results.
One thing I had to do was to select only "short". I think I may have an older version of FAPS. I did request an update from support and will try the setting with both long and short.

Thanks again

Faps generally has way more sell positions than buy positions....so if you go short only I don't think it would make that much of a difference.

I noticed if it makes 250 sell it will only make 12-20 buys and most times the buys are at 100% anyways.

thats why last week alot of people got blown out because faps has a hard time if the market is moving very fast in one direction.

I think changing the MA would slove that problem...but the MA doesn`t work while back testing...but it does work on a live or demo account..but I get freaked because I can`t back test it

Earl,

You keep talking about an MA which I assume is a Moving Average, am I correct?

If I assumed correctly, where do you set this parameter in the FAPS EA?

My FAPS version, which I believe is the latest version, does not show a MA parmameter in the Input dialog box.

Can you point me in the right direction or do I not have the latest version.

Hi Willsell,

You do get great results when back testing that period using short only. I was blown away when I realised. then I thought about it some more.

I'm pretty sure that given we know the euro has been falling against the dollar pretty well continuously since July choosing "short only" may well fall into the 20/20 hindsight category. Forcing FAPS to short only gives you the very very best back test result you can get. It's enough to make a chap giddy, I know it did me.

But now put yourself back in July, would you have had the foresight or the nerves to say "I believe the euro is about to fall hard against the buck. I don't want FAPS to take any long positions at all" ?. (btw if you did know it was going to fall do share you sources won't you :D ) And if you had have made that prediction, what if the the euro had surged?

Try running the same period with "long only" see how FAPS gets on trading against the trend that we know happened this summer. It's as scarey as the "short only" is thrilling.

When I'm back testing and tinkering with settings, I always try and act like i don't know what will happen because in live demo testing I won't. I know in July I would have been trading short and long. It was a ranging market mostly why wouldn't I have been. So I would have been on the wrong side of several trades.

I don't mean to piss on your bonfire, but FAPS is no less fallible than the guys that wrote the software. Keep you eyes open and you wits about you. Also FAPS really only ever opens positions, unless it hits its target it pretty much won't close them until the end of the month. What if it get on the wrong side of a trade on the first day of the month? How far can the pair fall or rise in 30 days? What if FAp had gone long on a retracement on 1st Oct? That would have been a 1250 pip hole to fall into.

Other than that its a great piece of kit. But its no Holy Grail
cheers
G-F

I've posted here or there that faps does more selling than buying anyways...like 10 to 1..

I love discussion...it gives me things to think about when I'm testing.

Faps may not be the holy grail...but it's the base in which the grail sits on.

Today has put a smile on my face...:D the is a lot of wisdom here...

if we really think, we will all see what we have been missing....I saw it last night and it was a post right here on this forum that got me thinking.

all I can and will say is look harder...if you haven't posted some input do..because even the stupidest question or comment can open a great realization.

good luck all

I have a feeling that FAPS uses daily bars to determine trend, unfortunately all I can base this on is if you atach the EA on metatrader without historical data the history center will have some data in the daily bars without opening a daily chart.
Other currency pairs without FAPS running on it will be empty on daily.

I can only asume that FAPS had to download some daily data for it's own purposes which I will asume might be to figure out what the trend is

are you sure ???

you should have a period MA input??
it's in faps properties

Thanks Earl.

I have sent an Email to support@forexautopilot.com requesting the new URL for the new member site as the old member site informs you to request the new URL.

Hopefully I'll receive shortly.

Again thanks.

But its no Holy Grail
cheers
G-F

Hi Grimly, must say I have a very similar take on it to yourself. Im sure FAPS can be used as a profitable tool but its all about sensible risk management.

I started the demo account straight off on the default settings a few days back, had a handful of early wins then lost $5,000+ in one trade. I've now set lot size to 0.2 and have now got my account back up from $600 to $1,400.
You'll notice that most of the guys are now recommending putting in a stop loss of between 300 and 400 pips to prevent things getting too far out of hand. However, as far as I can see, with a 400 pip SL and TP of 20, you need a success rate of 95% to break even, but with a 300 SL you only need 85%. I know backtests show 96%+ but the 85% obviously appears a lot more achievable, hence I'll be backtesting on the 300 SL setting, once I can work out how to get my backtesting going :D

Yes exactly, that is the biggest danger with FAP - getting yourself on the wrong side of a massive trend. That's why I use and advocate a resonable stop loss. This way you can get up, dust yourself off and keep on trading.

Wow, 400 pips of SL, you must have a huge risk appetite. How many times can your account takes these drawdowns ?

For newbie, do not depend on FAP alone, this beast if not managed well, will hurt it's master.

Devise your own trading plan, forward tests on your demo account before putting it on live.

I was running the demo account with a 400 pip stoploss and T/P 30 pips (or the equivalent now alpari as added an extra decimal point). For the full story see my death of a demo account post.

I'm not new to trading per se but i am new to forex, some so I have at least a vague idea how it all works. Problem was I had something like 6 or 7 trades hit those stops in 2 days. which stung ...quite a bit.

any way i'm in danger of inducing thread creep, so anything else about my set up and demo account death is probablt discussed there.

good luck all

I just update to the latest FAPS which has the MA settings.
Do these additional settings make any difference?

Yeah , you're right my maths sucks.........Shouldn't have tried to be clever and use percentages!!

Anyway, what I was trying to say was if you have a TP of 20 and a SL of 400 you need to have 20 winners for every losing trade (still think that equates to 95%?) and one in 15 if you have a SL of 300 (think that should be approx. 93.4% !!??).

Makes you realise that the strile rate of 96.5% much advertised by FAPS isn't all its cracked up to be as they advocate no SL at all.

Just to let you know if you thought I was being sarcastic or a smarty pants I wasn't. I really wanted to see your theory of those percentages back tested.

Not at all Mystik, I realised after I'd posted it that the perecentages didn't make sense! As for backtesting, still haven't been able to get my backtesting going. I'm gonna have to reinstall the programme to see if that works.

I have had FAPS for a whole week now and I am still a live FOREX virgin (be gentle with me). I was about to ask for a refund based on my backtests of the default settings when I stumbled across this forum. Thanks to the posts here and in particular Earl I am hanging in there and having some fun back and forward testing.

My backtesting has been mainly based on Earl's settings and combining this with my rules from my stock and futures trading
- never trade without a stop loss
- let your profits run and cut your losses quickly

It appears that in the case of FAPS these rules seem to be inappropriate - my hands are trembling at the thought of trading without a stop loss but that's what the backtesting is telling me.

I think when trading this system you need to be able to take a significant drawdown. The backtests probably dont even show the true extent of the intra-day and intra-month drawdowns - only the drawdown at the moment a position is opened or closed. From my testing so far I would estimate that your account and settings probably need to be able to handle about a 1000 pip drawdown and still survive.

I will post the results of one of my backtests under Earl's backtest challenge.

Dont be worried, if your not trying to run balls to the wall just set your aaa at 20 your bbb at 8 your TP at 20 your max orders at 2 your lot size at whatever 1% of your deposit is your stop loss at 0 ( If your not comfortable with that then set it at 250 or 350 and walk away for 30 days.... You will make a profit....

All my back-testing shows a margin call unless I use a SL. If I use a SL the best I get is a 2900 USD gain on a 10,000 original deposit since Jan 2008. I do understand that longer periods are required, I just use a single year to 'feel the waters' since it is quicker, if results are promising I run the test over a longer period.

I had a demo account (3000 dep.) with FAPS on the defaults - it was a wash in under 2 weeks.

I have a second demo account (3000 dep.) - so far almost ever auto-trade has been a failure. All FAPS seems to do is lose money. I have made better gains as a newbie (560.00 in one day on same demo account) and certainly handle my risk better.

How is it some of you guys are posting extravagant gains, are these real ??? If so why are your results so much different then mine

M1 or M5??

I backtest your settings!

11-27-2008, 06:24 AM
Thanks for your settings. They have really improved my possible results. I did a lot of testing with the t/p and s/l levels, and I found that once you got over t/p of 65 the results improved again. Anywhere between 70 and 85 produces decent results, with a s/l of 195.

Modelling quality is rubbish though. What do you think?

P.S
Any tips on improving modelling quality?

Earl

Test M5 use M5

I'm on the M5 chart ...and I like to test on the M5 because you get 90% modelling... and that the best a man acn get:D

man... alot of people said I would blow out my account.... hasn't happened yet..... I started 9/21/2008....and I'm still standing..

I pulled out 2k out of my account that I started with 1k

I'm growing that 1k as we speak...

I had a set back...went back to the default settings by accident cost me $412 bucks...

but back on track ...

most laughed when I changed the aaa & bbb.....said I was crazy:eek:

a lot scoffed at me with my 10% LRR ...or 6.8% for 2 trades

Faps is now a 95%+ killing machine for me anyways

you have to remember that it's a machine

it's only going to do what you tell it to....so I try and tell it everything

good luck....I hope you find a path

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Thanks Jourdan

man... alot of people said I would blow out my account.... hasn't happened yet.....

I 'm with you on this one... "when the time is right" I cranked up the settings (yesterday for example), monday evenings seem to be a good time too (I guess it depends which timezone your in)

Yesterday for example I increased my lot size by 10...let it make about 6 trades then adjust it back down. But you gotta keep a close eye on it, and margin...Don't "set it and forget it" also when Faps is loosing pretty big I increase my lot size for a few trades (or you can increase your LLR to 11 and increase the number of lots) , faps rarely looses 2 or 3 trades in a row - so why not capitalize on it?

I keep several different files saved, and just load the one I want when I feel like gambling... I don't recommend anyone do this by the way... since it's the EOM today I cranked settings way down...

Earl as of today Dec 07, 08, are you sitting on a floating loss sell position like I am? My FAP opened this trade at 1.2596. I'm sitting here grinding my teeth with uncertainty as to where the naughty currency pair (eur/usd) is going to go next.

Mine opened a sell @ 1.2766 and I too am currently floating a loss of about $400. It did this to me last week too, I was floating a loss of around $1800, but it came back and pulled profit ;)

I'm waiting it out.

Yep, I still do. I have my SL set at 300 pips, and I thought I'd not try to second guess the market and mess with the system. If the SL gets hit it has done its job. But if my magic crystal ball had been working I would've manually closed the trade when the pair dipped to 1.2626 (low of the lowest candle)

Presently on the H1 chart stochastics and Williams %R are both in an overbought condition so it may just turn around and give my trade some breathing space...we shall see.

Yes, that happened to me as well. However in this instance I am concerned a bit since all the fundamental news reports that I'm reading seem to indicate that risk appetite is back in the markets, and when that happens...the euro/usd will rise...oil may also rise substantially as OPEC is said that it may cut production soon. (they're soon to meet sometime this month)

On FAP, I see a gentlemen almost doubled his account in 6 hours.
I have been experimenting with different settings and did well overnite, but during the day today, the system seems to be going long and nailing the highs, but going long when short was the call.

My question is, do you employ the same settings always or do you modify based on your perceived market movement - thus reading the charts and making your own educated assumption as to market direction?

Thanks

SOURCE:FASTBROKERS COMMENTARY (http://fastbrokers.net/news/view.php?id=960)

I just found this on fastbrokers commentary

The EUR/USD found support at our 1.2669 level and jumped considerably from here, running in tandem with U.S. equities. The Euro appreciated through our 1.2783 resistance Monday as investors hope Obama’s public-works program will provide a cure for America’s ills. A recovery in the U.S. economy implies an appreciation of the Euro against the Dollar according to our positive correlation between the EUR/USD and S&P futures. However, the EUR/USD is presently backing away from our 1.2892 resistance in reaction to weaker than expected German Industrial Production data. Despite the brief setback, the EUR/USD continues to build on its stabilizing uptrend. If the Euro should close well above our 1.2998 level and hence the psychological 1.30, we could witness a nice bull-run in the EUR/USD. This rests on the shoulders of America’s economy. Additionally, the EUR/USD still has our medium-term downtrend line to deal with. Should the EUR/USD continue above our 1.2892 and 1.2998 resistances, we find fresh top-end resistance at 1.3154. On the downside, our 1.2783 resistance becomes supports, with 2nd tier and bottom-end supports sitting at 1.2669 and 1.2562, respectively. The EUR/USD is presently exchanging at 1.2870.

My question is, do you employ the same settings always or do you modify based on your perceived market movement - thus reading the charts and making your own educated assumption as to market direction?

Thanks
Not sure if this question is for me but I am testing 4 different settings now. I dont have a constant setting as yet. :)

Alan Fap for me opened 4 buys and 1 sell. Before I left home the 4 buys hit TP. I cant wait to get home from work!. :D

Hmmm...lucky you...are you using a small TP, or would you mind sharing your settings? I decided to try out Earl's settings and so far the performance hasn't really been any much different from the default settings...

Demo testing using MA 34 and 75 settings from Earl. I have 2 Eur USD charts one with a TP OF 20 the other TP 10 to catch the smaller ones. :D

MA 50 is from Willsell.

Well like I said I have strong doubt that modifying the MA helps all that much...maybe if someone can show me some forward demo testing results I'll be convinced. I noticed that even with MA 34 (Earl's setting) it still opens trades at EXACTLY the same levels as the default settings...could this be a coincidence...hmm..

I agree with Alan. Anyone that can read a chart can see that this is going to 1.33 - eur/usd. I am showing a loss of 1900$.
I will switch to fap turbo, this no stop loss is nuts. The system put me short 5 minutes before the super spike.
I traded on my own yesterday and made 600$ - plse tell me how this system protects us- i have not seen it yet kick in the stop loss.

The fastbrokers commentary posted earlier was spot on!!!

I'm out with an actual 2k loss - as they say - you can't fight the tape. The EurUsd could be on the move, no place for scalping.

Alan are you a chart reader? Can you see this going to 1.33 and beyond??

Yes I do. It already broke monthly R1 and is heading for R2 at 1.3461..Daily R2 stand in its way though.

I'm surprised to see that CAD and AUD aren't making a comeback..typically when we see renewed risk appetite CAD and AUD always go up (related to investors buying into "risky" assets such as commodities)

The EUR/USD made noteworthy progress Wednesday, busting through the psychological 1.30 barrier it has been struggling with over the past month and a half. The Euro continues its surge Thursday morning, creeping through our top-end resistance as it approaches our medium-term downtrend. The appreciation of the Euro comes in light of worse than expected French Industrial Production, which would normally have a negative impact. However, the ECB believes the EU economy will recover by Q3 or 2009. As a result, the central bank implies it may not need to reduce its benchmark rate by much more. Therefore, with U.S. interest rates set to come down further, the Euro offers an attractive interest swap. Additionally, the Euro continues its historic appreciation against the Pound, running past 0.88. Hence, the EU economy is obviously faring better than Britain’s in midst of the global economic crisis. Should the U.S. post better than expected data this morning, the Euro should continue its appreciation against the Dollar considering its positive correlation. Fundamentally, we deleted resistances and initiated fresh supports, another positive reinforcement for the bulls. We see 1st and 2nd tier resistances at 1.3261 and 1.3360, respectively. On the downside, we find supports at 1.3154, 1.3081, and 1.3018. The EUR/USD is presently exchanging at 1.3174.

Yes another interesting day. :)

Hello Board :)

I've spent several days reading all the info here, hats off to you all!

Now I don't know a thing about the Forex market but if you can put indicators on it (that can be "tweaked") then I can flip it. (Scalping on a 15 minute chart? -interesting.)

From what I'm reading here, and what I hope to bring to this board, are some fresh idea's that are floating around in my head that will help eliminate the losses. After all indicators can NEVER be wrong they simply record what they are made to record, but our "Interpretation" of them CAN be wrong, --and how can there be a BIG movement AGAINST our trade and your indicators not pick it up? (unless you don't know what your doing, because that's what indicators do, RECORD what the market is doing.) Notice you may have to "tweak" the indicators you use as you walk from a Weekly chart down to a 1 min chart, there's another golden secret! To do that just back test and see that it follows, or "reads" and follows chart movement. Once you have a "read" on it, let the fun begin :)

For instance...
[ here's a GOLDEN trading set-up I use on the stock QQQQ ]
When I buy stock options I wait for the WEEKLY chart to be OVERSOLD with a momentun Stochastic indicator that is just turning and crossing positive, then look at the DAILY chart and wait for the same set-up. As loong as the WEEKLY chart is positive I'm buying (CALLS) NOT shorting as that would be against the MAJOR trend.

=daily chart will cross positive and negative while the weekly chart stays positive, hence your pullback positions and buyin/out points. It's like the tide of the ocean, the "tide" is the WEEKLY chart and you can see it coming in and going out, the "waves" on the tide the DAILY chart picks up, then we zoom in for the kill=

Now when the WEEKLY and DAILY are just going positive, pull up a 60 minute chart and look for that same set-up, when you see it coming pull up a 5 minute chart and a 1 minute also. You'll see a bottom formation in the 5 min chart and when it goes positive use the 1 min chart for exact buys and sells as THESE will be the powerful short uptrends that are the most profitable. They are quick and the best 1 min rides IMO ~

You have the momentum of the uptrending Weekly chart, Daily, 60 min, 5 min and 1 min chart on your side that way. "The trend IS your friend!!!" Short positions won't do so well on average when the weekly is in it's up trend.

If you just buy in on a minute chart when it crosses positive you don't know "where" the trend is at, --yes? On a Weekly chart you may be WAY OVERBOUGHT and headed for trouble! But by backing out to a WEEKLY chart and THEN going in, you know you are buying right in the "hole." --make sense?

So I'm looking to take some of this common sense trading methodology and apply it here and give us a "leg up" on the market.

--perhaps using this very set-up we can simply use it to know when to set "buys" when it's trending up, and of course set the "sell" (short position) when the weekly, daily,
60 min chart start to trend downward.... -eliminating lossing trades that go against the trend and making this a cash cow....... "?"
Cha-ching!!! LOL ~

I may be totally wrong.... Time will tell and I'll let you all know ~
So let's try every angle we can think of and use each others thoughts to feed on.
"Many hands make much work light."

I'm going to download it tonight in a couple hours of this post and start tweaking ~
I can't wait to get started and make some new friends here, GLTY!!!

OH!...
If you don't have nice charting software here's a free site with some very nice indicators that has a nice "feel" to it. If anyone's interested I can post some of the indicators I like and use.
http://www.vtsystems.com/
oh,.. and how about a nice manual explaining the indicators? :)
http://www.vtsystems.com/resources/helps/0000/HTML_VTtrader_Help_Manual/index.html

Now I've got some work to do :)

Forex and Dow Jones recommended levels
December 12, 2008

GMT 02:37

EUR/USD

Today’s support: - 1.3263 and 1.3230 (main), where correction is possible. Break would give 1.3208, where correction also may be. Then follows 1.3184. Break of the latter would result in 1.3168. If a strong impulse, we would see 1.3136. Continuation will give 1.3098.
Today’s resistance: - 1.3376 and 1.3410(main). Break would give 1.3442, where a correction is possible. Then goes 1.3465. Break of the latter would result in 1.3500. If a strong impulse, we’d see 1.3518. Continuation will give 1.3543 and 1.3587.

Hmmm......

I'm not expert but my gut tells me that 1.35 is the next level to be tested...

The reason I'm saying that is because with the credit crisis supposedly contained in Europe fundamental market forces are reasserting themselves and investors are starting to buy riskier assets and buying back into the Euro which offers a higher interest rate than the US Dollar.

We shall see though...For the moment I'm long Eur/Usd

I would further like to add that you should NEVER accept more than ~ 30 MAX drawdown. If you ever get to that in your manual trading or automated trading you shold STOP what you're doing immediately and reexamine your trading method/automated system.

Once you feel reasonably assured that you've correct the fault in your trading system or updated for prevailing market conditions resume again. But first backtest (in the case of an automated system) or forward demo test your changes far in advance before going live again.

You are right, but I gave you the wrong info, when I converted my time to military time then subtracked the two I get 5. So it appears that "5" is my setting... -hey FAPS GUYS, how about next time you build that funtion in the PROGRAM!!?... Don't tell me you can trend a market but you can't subtrack two military times!

-But THANKS Alan :)

Now...
One other thing that crossed my mind is why not throw a Full Stochastic indicator on a 15 minute chart and use that to buy in or tell the system BUY ONLY or SELL only according to it's trend. How can we test in a 5 minute chart and expect to get the same results when we HAVE TO scalp on a 15 minute chart?.... Compare the two with indicators, -doesn't make sense. We need to run our tests in a 15 Minute environment for a "true" test IMO.

Look at EUR/USD on a MONTHLY chart and see how OVERSOLD it "really is" useing a stochastic indicator. Of course useing a daily chart and "walking in" to the minute charts to find a exact bottom. Wouldn't this help to weed out those trades that are bad? Of course it would.

For anyone who's new to charting (EUR/USD), the above MONTHLY chart clearly shows there is a bottom formed and "monthly" it is averaging up now. Now watch the "DAILY" trend and catch positive cross bottoms useing that same indicator to BUY as sells on average won't be as great with the market averaging up now on this pair. The biggest moves down will come with the DAILY charts indicator is turning negative...

THINGS I DON'T LIKE about FAPS.

"Your hands are tied!!!"
Wouldn't it be great to run and adjust on ANY time chart?!..
Why/HOW can we run back tests on with a chart that we aren't useing to trade with? If we are scalping in a 15M chart then ALL tests need to be made useing that, not in a 1 minute or 5 minute. PERIOD! IMO. The results CAN'T be the same, look for yourself.

I understand that they are trying to make a "Holy Grail" with Faps but you can't trade the same against different trends IMO. The charts tell me that. Everything I know have come from the charts, not idea's or "common sense."
So with leveraging we "can't" be on the wrong side, -ever IMO, you'll get wiped out ~

So I would love to see tests being done in the time frame we are trading in because indicators or formula's only look at time frame and act IN THAT time frame.

Example:
Useing a stochastic indicator with a 5,3,3 (I'm in MetaTrade right now) looking at the Monthly chart (EUR/USD) it has just crossed positive, but "DON'T BUY" right now, because the DAILY is in the OVERBOUGHT area and will be making a correction soon. The WEEKLY chart is in the middle of the run so there will be more to come.

[speaking to newbs]
See how you "walk in" to a trade?
Monthly says BUY, the Weekly shows we are half way into this current run and the daily says there will soon be a correction (sell off). So what the charts are telling us is that the MAJOR trend is UP (Monthly) but... the Daily is more OVERBOUGHT so DON'T buy right now. Will there be another good little run up? According to the Weelky chart we are right in the middle of that cycle so yes the correct thing to do would be wait for a BUY as Stochastic crosses negative and heads to the bottom of the indicator to the OVERSOLD point. When the indicator crosses positive again, BUY! -and catch a short power run.

Now....
If FAPS would scalp useing a 2 minute time frame (1 M is just to whip-saw)with just a Stochastic indicator! wow!!! -is this what they meant when they say that this program is "legal?" Because in back testing this (not in FAPS) you can make 1000% - 10,000% A DAY with leverage EASY ~

Look for yourself.
Here's the formula: 200% leverage with a .5% gain yields a 100% account increase.

So my biggest compliant agaist FAPS so far is how your hands are tied!!
I also understand that "most" people would get into trouble or totally lost if the system were "open" and would cause alot of confusion, but for someone like me a DREAM come true!! I also believe that the TREND is the reason why they "tweak" FAPS and you have to download a new version every month because they have to change settings so it trades the trend otherwise you'll get alot of bad trades.

I don't believe it has "hedging" built in, I believe if it buys and shorts the market that it is a MISTAKE, thus why they say no stop loss and ride it out...

Screw that ~
If it's going up, why would I short it? To watch my margin dry up and place a huge negative in my account? What's the point of that?... So IMO those are mistakes, that "can" come around and go positive, but WHY do that? Because in looking at that MONTHY chart above look at the HUGE selloff that took place about 4-5 Months ago with EUR/USD!!! Could you imagine placing a BUY at this time, you would have been wiped out over and over again in any long term BUY w/leverage!!

----Also notice how the Stochastic indicator "told you" it was about to tank as it crossed negative BEFORE the run down in that MONTHY chart.
:) BOOYAH!!!

So little by little we are figuring this puppy out! :)
I don't like not knowing what a "system" does, but if I can figure out how it works then I can guide it, because clearly some people are taking big hits, that shouldn't be IMO.

GLTYA!!!

GLTYA!!!

Chart ~

Well that UPTREND call was right on the money, hope you all made some GREEN :)

Now.... about FAPS... -or maybe it should be called flops?...
I think if this software was as good as what it said there would be a million people on here all telling their story of wonderful profits and the board would be ON FIRE!!!

"This board is dead"

Let's start again from the beginning shall we...
And this time let's use THE SAME TIME FRAME that the FAPS uses to run it's program.
15 Min for the scalper. Anything else makes no sense what so ever.
THEN let's see some results. I think FAPS COULD be good if they untied your hands some...

Post what goes wrong, because by fixing the weakest link we make it stronger and stronger. That's what needs to be done. Not testing in a 5 minute and then thinking we can run it in a 15 min environment. NOT gonna work. Just telling ya like it is.

To be honest I've moved onto ZULU trades . com for auto trading.
And I'm building my own auto trader with the help of a FREE consultant named Chris (cskidmore screen name) at VT Trader (google it for the link). VT Trader has the best charts on the web, on chart trading and the down load is FREE. You only pay for a LIVE feed, otherwise all the tools are FREE-FREE-FREE. Tons of info there. The "feel" is top notch!

I'd love to see this board come to life, it's silence speaks volumes....
If I may quote Kenny Rogers....
"You got to know when to hold'em, KNOW WHEN TO FOLD'EM"

Of course everything here is my opinion, but common sense is hard to buck....
Good luck everyone ~

Ok maxfactor, I'll bite... how'd you claim 2000 pips in a day?

Were you using classic Faps? Turbo? Manually Trading? Care to share?

Later Board!
Chart ~
hi chart
your right, silence tells the tale. I'm very new to forex, lost about $2K so far, not having much success. But the one thing i would like to comment to you is how your thinking and willingness to teach us things about faps and trading period are amazing. Man, if you could be my mentor in learning charts for better forex trading, would also be an amazing experience. Right now Some things you say make no sense, but I'm so intrigue by the things you have to teach me I wish you would have your own post on teaching us how to read charts, and use indicators and such. I don't want to just be a faps forex trader, I want to be successful because I know what i'm doing, and you would be a huge help to us all. Keep talking
