Why i cant backtest FAP?

I purchased the FAP, but never can make backtest, the result is empty and graph is empty, and i see messages in Diary "Your Key not is valid".

But i have purchased it, and it works fine in real time, i have my key, why dont make backtest?

You have to enter your key in the "Expert properties" of the Strategy Tester as well.

N1gthnday is right. On the right hand side of your stratergy tester you will see "expert advisors", open this, scoll down to the bottom of the inputs and your away.

These hints did not work for me: I inserted my activation key also into the expert advisor's "expert properties" and there ist still the error "Your Key not is valid. Your expert ID=0". All settings are set like advised.

The EA works fine attached to the window.

Is there anything else that I could have done wrong?

Hmm, try updating your history data. Go to Tools --> History Center. Select eur/usd and click Download. Close down the trading platform and reopen it and try to backtest again.

Still can't get the backtest to work. I've reloaded from the history centre a couple of times and restarted the system several times over but still no improvement. Although tou can see the data being tested on the chart, it shows nothing at all in results, report showing all zero figures. Only clue is that it says modelling quality is only 25%. Any ideas? Thanks

Check the journal tab at the bottom of the strategy tester. See if it is scrolling the error message "Invalid key" or something to that effectwhile it is running. If it is then you can try this. Reboot the computer and reload Faps on your chart according to proper procedure.
I have been forced to retype my key into the strategy tester "everytime" I run a test. Even if it already shows there. Delete what is there. Retype your key, and hit enter then click OK to shut the settings window.


If that works, you don't have to reboot everytime just make sure you re-enter the key.

If none of the above suggestions work it could also mean you are not generating any signals because you have made a mistake on one of your inputs. From memory I may have done this myself once when I entered the wrong take profit amount. I have 2 brokers - one that quotes in 4 decimals and one in 5. If your broker quotes in 5 decimals (check on your chart) you must enter the take profit as 200 not 20 (or 100 not 10 etc etc). If this doesnt work (or doesnt apply) double check all your input settings.

i'm having problems too..
in journal its constantly saying:
ForexAutoPilot EURUSD,M1: Alligator Jaw error = 138; desc = requote

and not doing anything... any ideas?

ahh... got it. alpari switched to 5 digits on demo accounts.

Are you running on Vista or XP? Make sure you run the trading platform on an account with admin privileges and also make sure you enable DLL calls (Tools - Options - Expert Advisors)
