View Full Version : Forex Funnel and Forex Tracer anyone tried them?

I have been testing these "BIG COMPETITION EA TO FAPS AND FAPTURBO".

I think FAPS is still number one to these 2 EAS but surprisingly they have been bringing in the pips on the EURUSD while FAP sleeps till January 4th 2009.:D

I tried Forex Funnel and it blew my demo account.

It uses a Martingale system and doubles the lot size as the price moves away from you, in the belief that price will only move so far before it retraces; and it only needs to retrace 20 pips to bring in a winning trade. However in these times of increased market volatility, price can quite easily move 150 pips away from you within minutes and without a retrace. When it does this, the Forex Funnel will blow your account. If you start with 0.1 lot, it will next trade 0.2 lots (giving you a total of 0.3 lots on the go), then 0.4 lots (0.7 in total), then 0.8 lots (total of 1.5 lots) etc etc. You can see how quickly this can get away from you.

I can see how it will work well at the moment with the markets moving in limited ranges and with reduced volatility, but please be wary and don't use it on a live account.

Thanks for the warning JillyB. I am not that crazy to throw it on my live account after I worked so hard to get it where it is today along with faps. :cool:

So far this account have not been wiped out its currently has a $ 950 profit I hate that hanging floating loss of $290.

I may throw it on a $10 dollar micro account and see what happens.:)

Very true. I saw this description of Martingale in another (non-forex) trading forum and think it's very accurate:

"it will give you consistent days of profit, months and years even (more like days and weeks for the Funnel-icg), until the one day when you get a trend that goes 1 tick higher than what you can afford to keep doubling down, and then you blow your account."

Forex Tracer appears to be very inconsistent and doesn't do well when backtested during non-trending periods. The same people are selling Tracer, Funnel, Forex Detector and Forex Boomerang. From what I've read, none of them are consistent. All are profitable under the right conditions but likely to blow up your account at other times. See the reviews at this site:

That doesn't surprise me--trading was mostly choppy and rangebound during the holidays...good for Martingale counter-trend trading.

The real test will come when the big moves return (maybe very soon). For some reason, the Funnel has a shorting bias, so a big upmove for the USDJPY can destroy it.

But no harm testing the thing in a demo account.

Forex Funnel demo account still lives after the holidays! :eek:

All I have to add to this discussion si this...Martingale = crap! stay away from this gambling strategy.
