This EA is good, I back tested it all day with FXPro with different pairs and its performing best ONLY on EURUSD 5M time frame, 5 digit broker. backtest lost 1000 ->140 in 6 months. But wull put on demo and see.. I dont trust backtests...

It was written by someone that uses FxPro so the stop loss, take profit etc have an extra zero. I guess you would remove a zero from all of those inputs to get the same results.

Really weird. I just contacted developer, its my fellow Croatian, he said that all of his EAs are locked to DEMO with reason, but he will email me unlocked version which I can use on live but he DOES NOT recomend it. My foward tests(thesecret.mt4stats.com) tells me different. Ah well, i do not know if would be good to go live now....

Stoploos 600.0 and Takeprofit 900.0 and the other settings is not that good...

The stoploss is 60 pips and take profit is 90 pips unless you are using the hidden stoploss of 30 pips and the hidden take profit of 60 pips. An extra zero is added because of the 5 digit broker.

If you are using the fasttrailing option, then you are using a trailing stop of 5 pips if you have the trailing stop set to 50.

It has worked great for me in a forward test also. But that was for 12 hours, not really long enough of a test to see how it really works.

i found the following backtests on-line a few week ago.. Dont remember from where thy are.
there seems to be other good timeframes
So far, i have put it on eur/us 5M since 1 hour but no trade yet.
Perhaps because it is a 4 digit broker and i have to adjust digits in the EA.
Maybe we should run some forward test on all those timeframes as results seem very good.

Second trade: -31 pips

Look at my live stats for demo in sig, it combines both.

But I have some problem with back testing, please help.

1. I cant get same results which I attached in zip from first post
2. Iam getting 3 different results with SAME settings for the same time period!
I run back test, then go to Journal, Clear all, back on settings tab, click start and doing that min 3 times in a row, always different result, WHY? Its the same data. Am I doing something wrong, so I need to restart MT4 before every back test or something else? Anybody?

In your strategy tester under your expert prperties under inputs tab you will see colums variable, value, start, step stop.

Select the variable you want to optimize, select the start value, the step value in other words what the next incremental value you want the optimizer to test and also the stop which will be the highest value you want to test.

For FAP Auto Pilot if you want to optimize aaa and bbb you will select it, have your start input set to 3, your step to 3 and maybe your stop to 21 or whatever input you want to try.
The optimizer will first do a run on 3 then try 6, then 9 unyil it gets to 21.

After you selected what you want done, select the optimise tick in the following window, select your dates, timeframe ect and click start.

It normally won't give you results thats useless but if you want you can tell it what the minimum results are that you want under the optimization tab of your expert properties

In short thats about it but if there anything else you need to know give me a shout

Maybe just to add optimization can take from a couple of minutes to a few days depending on pc specs and how many inputs you have selected to optimize(a monster of a server with multiple proccessors and a crapload of memory will do nicely :D ).

Also while the optimization is running you will see there is two extra tabs in your startegy tester: optimization results and graph where you can see what results it's giving back

My current test on this EA is about 20% complete, report so far included (from 20 Dec till today)

While you do the optimization or even when it is finished, in the strategy tester window where you do the normal back testing there will be two new tabs: Optimization results and optimization graph.
In Optimization results it will give you line for line every pass that has been made that had a positive result with info like profit factor, no of trades, drawdown ect as well as the settings it used to get the results for that particular pass.
The optimization grapgh will have green blocks all over the show with all the profitable passes and the more profit a pass had the darker green it will be.
If you double click on a pass that looks favorable then those settings will be passed on to your expert properties and you can run a backtest or save them as a *.set file
You can also copy it to somewhere else if you wish

The longer the period that you choose for optimization and the more parameters you choose for optimization the longer it takes to do

I tried to do an optimization for FAP Autopilot a while ago selecting basically everything that looked like it could make a difference and it was running for three days and then I had a power failure (that was over a period of 8 months and the optimization was bout 90% finished - never thought to copy the results I had at that point somewhere :eek:

Some setting I feel that we might play around with to get possible better results is take profit (maybe increase it), SleepBetweenTrades (maybe decrease it), Risk_percent, Trailing stop (turn it off perhaps), stoploss.

The testing was done with a starting balance of $500

I am redoing the optimization - on forward testing the trailing stop seems to close so I have changed the optimization to start at 5, step at 5 and stop at 100.

From 20 Dec till yesterday, not sure if it's a good idea because it's holiday season but I don't have history before that. The better option will be to run these type of test over at least 3 months

We need someone with the father and mother of computers to do the optimizations as it takes a hell of a long time if you select a lot of parameters over a long period. I only have a 3 Ghz processor and 2 gig of RAM

I can only take a guess on that as I only started playing with this last night but I will asume settings like stoploss which is 600.0 and take profit which on deafult is 900.0 you might want to change to 60 and 90.
We need to contact the author for that :confused:

Optimization should be done based on data downloaded from History Center, that would be for all of us, if u ran optimization based on data from your broker then any1 with different broker will have different results. I will try to optimize based on HC data for last 3 months, before holidays. Will post settings...

I have just downloaded data from history center - Will do from Nov 15 till Dec 23

Parameters I'am going to do is:
Trailing Stop: start:5 step:5 stop:150
Macd_fast: 2,2,20
Macd Slow: 2,2,30
Macd Signal: 3,3,18
RSI: 3,3,30
Momentum: 2,2,30
DeMarker: 6,3,30
ADX: 6,3,30
ForceIndex: 6,3,30

It will be interesting to see what happens when trailing stop is set to false and take profit gets a run through on 50 to 500 with above parametrs also set for optimisation. The TP setting that on default is 900 (90 pips) never get reached because the trailing stop take the trade out on a retracement

We are gonna need a lot of patience for this run, I am doing quite a big one but I will post setting as it comes along.

My previous settings are trading nicely but two big losses has wiped the profits made :mad:

The small losses in the report happens when a trade go's in profit, the trailing stop kicks in, trade retraces while trailing stop is below breakeven.

If the code can be changed so that the trailing stop only comes into effect when the trade is in a one or two pip profit (including spread) then I think we might have a winner here :D

This is back test from 2008.06.01 to today, so over the holidays also, with a tiny change in default settings. :D

If you set usefasttrail to zero, the trailing stop still works but it doesn't kick in until the trade is in profit. But the stop loss gets hit which it doesn't when you have usefasttrail set to 1.

I ran with the same settings on two demo accounts last night except for the usefasttrail and the one with the fast trail turned off was profitable and the other was not. So you might want to try that with your testing :)

I think Hansje is running on FXPro and that broker has proved to enter more trades than most other brokers for FAPT as well. Low(ish) spreads and no re or off quotes means lots of action :-)
I'm using fxpro on my fapt live account but used another broker for the demo of this last night and didn't have many trades either. Looking forward to the optimized settings!

I am still waiting for the catch... You've been running this for 4 days and doubled the account for crying out loud!!! Ok I know it's a demo account and that they differ from the real thing but FXPro's demo has been pretty true to the live account when I've compared before. What's weird about what the EA is doing today is that a trade gets stopped out by the trailing stop for some profit and then it immediately opens another trade that eventually hits the stop loss and totally wiping out the profits of the previous trade. LOL

BTW, I'm demoing the EA with IBFX and it's a 4 digit broker. I have to chop off a zero on the settings. That puts the trailing stop at 5. It seems to me that's too small. I had better results the other day when I left the TS at 50.

The thing is, TrailingStop difference between 50 and 51 is HUGE(10% DD in my tests), and for 4 digit broker it has to be one digit number...so...:(

EURUSD M5...Try to download data two times from history center before back test. And how far did U test it, EA is optimized for last 6 months, markets change over the years. Keep in mind that this is free EA, and I cant code so I cant try to make it better with nothing other than optimization, if I can I would.

Yeah this thing didnt do so hot. I found the forum where the developer is on, and he recommends not using it in live trading. People arent having the best luck with it over there. The author himself calls it a "simple" ea, so its def. a work in progress.

I've done some more testing and optimization over the weekend and I think it's a no go... You can optimize it and it will make profit for two weeks straight and then the week after it will slowly drain an account and then show slight profit in the fourth week.

From November to Jan until Friday it shows profit as an example but run a longer backtest after optimization from January last year then it has losing months and some winning months.
Overall from last year Jan until Jan 09 2009 it grows an account but I am not prepared to run an EA that is as erratic as this one.

thesecret sorry for the bad news, I personally still think it has some potential but it needs some work to be done and optimization takes a hell of a long time to do :(
