stop loss.......bid or ask ???????

placed a manual trade this morning at 00.14 on the euro/chf . set my s/l at 1.50750....entered at 1.50633 at top of range with a sell order......watching other charts and demmo's....went back to chart to see trade closed on stop loss at 00.41.....a price not yet reached....and market had retreated nicely for a 20-25 pip gain. phoned alpari today and they said the ask price which they dont show on chart had took me out....confused by this ...but must be my mistake any thoughts.:eek:

Sounds like you are confusing the price shown on the charts with the trade price (this is shown in the market watch window (bid/ask) and the price shown on T/P in the terminal window).

The chart shows the bid price (the lower of the two). If you want to show the ask price on the charts you can put this on as well through the chart properties options. When you have this line as well you can see the difference that the spread makes to your trades up or down.

If this helps at all to. If you make a buy trade it will close on the "ask (sell) price" and if you make a sell trade it will close at the "bid (buy) price." So whatever the spread is at the time will affect when the trade closes out.
