Just curious to see how people handle market close on Friday. Do you let the trades ride over the weekend and hope for the best on market open, or do you close all losing trades and start fresh on Sunday, in case the market tanks? Just curious on what the smartest option is.

Excellent question Rob, I was wondering that myself. It seems like closing on Friday would be the best way to handle it to prevent any kind of gaps.

If you like to play it safe then closing the trades might be a good thing for you. I like to take risks and I have let them roll over every weekend except for one. Everytime I have let the trades roll over it has been in a good position when the market opens and they all close up in the green. If you have a demo account it might be worth trying it out to see how you do.

Typically I subject myself to the mercy of the market, but lately I've been really wondering if this is wise thing to do given the wide sunday market open gaps I've been noticing.
I think the smartest option would be to watch out for any important economic releases or market moving news items that will be released over the weekend. If you feel the news will not act in the favor of your current open position close the trade on friday. If however nothing of that sort is to be expected then let it ride.

I would like to add a question on this matter.
As I just started to use FAP on a demo-account on thursday I saw a great result on fryday. My demo started with $5000 and ended with $6200 in only one day using all the default settings. During weekend of course there was no trading. However, I did not close the program down and on sunday evening it started to trade again.
You must know that I am living in Belgium and I am only trading on EUR/USD ( all default as suggested in the manuals. The chart I use is M1.
Now, on sunday evening when the trade was opened I saw one big line going down. Soon the trade was already down with more then 800$. This morning when I woke up the trade was still active but down with a los for over 1000$.
Now, since this is a demo-account I do not worrie and yet, I must see what it will show this evening when I return home but could one of you tell me if this is a normal thing to happen after the weekend?
As suprised I was on fryday to have a profit for over 1000$, now I am even more surpised that my profit earned on fryday "seems" to be whiped out on sunday night/ monday morning.
Hope to hear from you.

Yes this is normal. It is called a "market gap" Typically in non-volatile markets it should not happen often. As you can tell now the markets are high volatile. Also news events that move hte currency markets get released before the Sunday market open and naturally the market adjusts to the new market conditions.

Thank you Alan.
So if I understand right it would be wise maybe not to start on sunday evening but more on monday?
