Since FAP relies on your computer to be up and running and connected to the internet 24/7 what have people done to ensure a good, consistent connection to your brokerage account?
I've heard of but never used a VPS where your program runs on a server located somewhere that has all the backups and equipment in place to keep up and running 99.9999999% of the time. Your software program runs on their server and you simply log in and do your thing from any computer anywhere in the world.
I figure if anyone is going to take trading FAP seriously you'd need something like this to ensure a steady "live" connection to your account. A simple power outage or brown out will knock your computer offline and then what happens to that open trade you were in and didn't know it while you were sleeping or away at work.
If anyone has experience with this please share. I've done some research and it looks like the monthly cost for a VPS is around $25 to $50 depending on needs.

I have also been looking into doing this, it is deffinatly the best option to keep your trading platform up and running.
Also, as I am in Australia any trades that FAP wants to make on my PC have to travel to the US, meaning that with the lag (and how fast the market moves), it will not necessarily enter the market when it intended to. So by moving MetaTrader to a US based server it should improve its performance even more so...

Eagle, How do you like their service? Any problems with them? I was wondering if you are able to log into your account from ANY computer anywhere. Is this the case?

I use a shortcut on my laptop to connect to the service. Sometimes it goes offline for a few seconds but I can always reconnect. this service is exclusively designed for traders. they do their maintenance when the market is closed.
I havent tried to open it from another computer but i suppose you could from their website.
You would need your username, password, and IP address to your server.
Don't quote me on that because I havent tried it that way.
I'll give it a try tomorrow.

I dont get it... Do you guys lose your internet connections alot?
Your trades are completed whether your fap is running or not, it just cant enter new trades. If you notice FAP never closes trades unless they reach profit or stop loss.... It seems like the old version would close out trades, but the new one never does. I have a cable connection with a 8 hour battery backup on the cable modem, and another on my computer..... Never has my power gone out at my house where the internet connection stopped working... so the power is out at my house but the computer and internet are still running.
Also if you want to monitor your desktop from your laptop use a service gotomypc.com where you can login an navigate the system like you are there...

I am also on a battery backup. Not eight hours though. You must have spent some bucks for that. How does gotomypc.com work? Is there a monthly fee for that?

Bryan It wasnt that expensive and I have never been down for more than 4 hours so I dont really know if it will last that long... Thats why I bought 2 1 for the modem which draws nothing and a seperate one for the computer...

gotomypc.com is 19.95 month or 175.00 a year

Good thinking. I just have one for all of my components. I may get two to be safe. I will check out the link.
Thanks,

Eagle,
What is the procedure for installing FAPTurbo on your own dedicated or VPS server? I already rent a VPS with available capacity. I'm used to installing websites, but not trading programs.

I don't have an opinion one way or the other on this, but correct me if I am wrong.... Does the stealth mode (in fapturbo) mean it isn't sending the stop loss and take profit to the broker, but instead monitoring it locally?
So if for some reason you lost connection, the only thing that is "selling" your shares for profit during scalping is having your internet connection up and running and praying to a deity that it doesn't go down if the trade you are monitoring tanks when you lose connection?
Now I don't use Forex Autopilot but instead the FAPTURBO product based on it, so I dont know if Forex Autopilot has a stealth mode, but this may be a reason to move to VPS if you start doing larger orders.
