View Full Version : FAPS trading gold or silver

Has anyone out there out there ever back tested or tried to have FAPS trade gold (AXU/USD) or silver (XAG/USD)? I thought about giving that a try but was wondering if anyone else has any trial and error they can share with?

Not I, but I did try FAPS on GBP/USD and found out it works almost as good as on eur/usd....but I still stick to eur/usd due to lower spread..

If you're going to trade xau or xag you're going to have to deal with VERY high spreads...50-70 pips...so you gotta make sure you adjust your take profit to match...SL also has to be much larger...MUCH MUCH larger...

Well looks like FAPS would have made a few good trades on silver but my damn computer was off so it didn't get to close them out. And now I'm in the negative but I'm sure silver will come back down a bit.

Well FAPS opened and closed 4 trades in silver for a profit of $390. It took a little while for it to finally close out the trades but it was a nice surprise to see that FAPS did that. I'm still testing more on it. It seems that FAPS hasn't done that great with trading gold yet but maybe just got cought in a bad trade.

I have a demo account with Tadawulfx http://www.tadawulfx.com/v2/ and they seem to be doing pretty good so far. I'm up $500 more trading the silver on FAPS.

Thanks mucho Mystik! I'm running a demo on FXOpen; they have gold and silver. Would you mind disclosing your settings, like H1, M1 or whatever, TP, SL, Trailing Stop, if any, etc? It would rock if this worked. Great diversification! As or if the economy crumbles, many people will be running to metals, so longer term positions might be appropriate.

Hey Edward!! Sorry it took me so long to respond, I've been very busy lately. My settings are as follows:

LOTS:0
LRR:3
MAX ORDERS:5
MAX LOTS:100
STOP TIME:5
AAA:275
BBB:35
TAKE PROFIT:250
TRAILING STOP:100
PERIOD MA:13

The rest are default settings and I haven't actually played with the settings that much. These seem to work okay so far. I have been hit with a few big draw downs that took a big chunk from my account but FAPS made it back within a week. FAPS for some reason has only been trading silver and any gold trades it opens it always losses. So if someone can come up with a better setting for gold please share!! So as of right now FAPS is up $50 on two silver trades. I might just close them out myself because I think silver is going to come back down some.

Try these settings out and adjust them around to see if we can come up with something better. I have a feeling gold and silver might be the hot market in the near future.

No problem, thanks for the settings. I've been running FAP on the Tadawulf demo in my signature with no losers at all, using the default settings on the M1. I'm raising my TP periodically to see when, where and if it might be too much. I'm beginning to think gold and silver are better for it than currency...

Are you guys using the scalper strategy on gold and silver or the long term? My FAPT keeps giving the annoying error beep when i try scalper.

I am using FAPS and I think edward may be using FAPS as well.

Wow your stats look pretty damn good on the silver!! So far silver has been doing far better with FAPS than any other for me. I might try default settings and move to M1, or keep the settings I have now and just move to M1. Things go pretty slow on the M5.

Just thought I wold update this thread. Anyone still using FAPS to trade gold and silver? So far FAPS has been doing a pretty stellar job on trading the silver. I'll have to post some trades to show how FAPS is trading.
