The default setting are the bomb...

I would suggest everyone move back to them...after you do your own backtest of course..

my settings have gone by the way side...time to move on:D

Default is the way to go! only changes are Stop time 30 and 3 max orders on a live account. Slow but solid

How does changing the stop time effect the EA ???

Pullice

It gives a 30 minute gap between 2 trades and if the trades turns against you it will hedge. (works for me )

Anyway, I have been doing my head in back testing faps. Have seen some great results from lots of people working away and testing to see if we can find something solid and consistent. Thanks, you have helped me as an inexperienced forex trader to gain some very helpful knowledge. I feel I have some confidence as I near opening a live account. Keep risk and lots low, let faps do its thing. Thanks for this forum Alan...u da man!

Please test your settings in more than 1 time period in 2008 before you post them and say they are consistent. For instance try this setting in 2006 or 2007 and Bye Bye $10000.

Big Toe, any reason why you choose the open prices only model. Generally that is not a very reliable set of results based on what I have seen. Might try the tick method and see if you get similar results for the same time frame.

There really is no need to go back to 2006 and test it. It's far too long ago to give you good testing results. Testing from 2006 till now, of coarse it's going to wipe out your account because you can't change any settings during the testing.

Yes, I have had varied results testing month by month through 2008. Tweeking settings monthly shows a range of mostly successful results mainly on default M1. I feel it is a matter of finding your special settings to ride along with default settings. That is my opinion only.

TP = Take Profit
SL = Stop Loss
TS = Trailing Stop

I forgot to include the start and stop work times, it’s 0800 to 22:30. These settings are really Earl’s but tweaked a little bit. If you test these setting back in to 2006, you will notice that it has a difficult time getting through but it will rock out in 2008. I tried changing just aaa to 13 and bbb to 14 and run the test again from 2006 to present. Wow, it really made a big difference. You do alright through 2006, 2007 is slow but 2008 again goes bananas. Might try raising Max Lots from 6 to 10.

I guess I don't understand the logic in this argument. You guys keep working on a trading system that works great for the year 2008. What makes you think that 2009 is going to be like 2008. If I take the parameters that test good in 2008 and put them into 2007 or 2006 and they blow out, what makes me think they will work for 2009.
My point is I think we need to work up parameters that work for all of the last 3 years.
Ive seen and tested many settings posted here that work great in 2008, but get blown out badly in 2006 or 2007.

If you set the Start & Stop times for the EA, what does it do with trades that are still open ??? Does it just leave them as is ???

Thanks Again.

Make sure that I never get close to a margin call and ride out the ups and downs.... I really dont care if I need to hang onto a trade for 10 days as long as it eventually turns and I don't get a margin call... I have been getting about a 10% daily return which I am totally happy with... Today I got 28% :)

Well, i see all forum goes to default settings. I always suggest it in other post here, but anybody doestn listen to me. I am more than 100% of profit since 11/6. Only two weeks.

I put a graphic of my real account, from 9.000$ to 22.000$ today with a fixed lot. I use EURUSD and GBPUSD.

I am disagree with optimization only 2008. Always one system must be optimized all years. Now works, but in 2009 FAP can blow out. Its very important 2006, and 2007 to see the numbers. Someone can post it?

If it blow out in these years, then i am sure i will forget FAP, but at moment works. I dont like systems only work one year, because then, its a scam....the time will tell us.

I have noticed in a couple of places people referring to these settings (aaa & bbb). I have not changed them from the default since I don't understand hat they are. Can someone please explain ???

Thanks in Advance

aaa : the number used by DeMarker indicator signal
bbb : used by williams' percent range (wpr)
this setting will feed signal into formula inside of FAPS thus change behaviour of FAPS trading.

I have trade in live account using aaa: 30 and bbb:5, is good only for some period of trend and should be backed up with right initial deposit otherwise will blow up our money. I've loosed about 4800 with this setting due to spike in trend at beginning of this week (opening 5 orders, 0.4 lot).:(

The initial deposit for this month (nov '08) should be more than 730 point of your trade lot in order to cope all the fluctuation (EURUSD 1 min).
ex: if trade 1 lot ; max order 1; we should have at least $7300 for initial deposit (low risk) or $ 5000 (medium risk).
with this, we can use 730 in stop loss.

just to share, now I am using aaa:30 and bbb:60; LRR 3%; max order 5; max lot 1; stop time 5 at EURUSD 5 min, in live account.
This setting let the FAPS do the hedging once the trend is going in different direction.
Checked in backtest for november and keep consistent giving a profit:
TP = 22
periode: 2 Nov - 21 Nov
Profit : 11,521 pips
profit factor: 16.78
# of trades : 160
short : 111
long : 49
% profit trade: 99.38
initial deposit : 500

Last night, I put this setting in my live account, and this morning get more than 200 pips (use 0.1 lot) with initial deposit only 500.
I'll update for next week result.

i think we are in agreement with default settings. I only trade the first four hrs of the London. and i trade the exact pairs you do because they are the most traded. the GBP/USD has volitility and so does The EUR/USD the two best trending pairs in FX also. maybe there's a way to determine longer term trend and be able to switch to short or long only trades. I just don't think any EA can survive with some human intervention of that type.
