Does altering metatrader time period alter FAP performance? [Archive]

hi,

this has just crossed my mind

Does altering the time period on metatrader alter how FAPs trades?

My FAPs install was trading well on a demo account until about a week ago with a SL set. Since then it seems to be taking 1 step forward 3 steps back.

I have just noticed that i haven't got MA indicators applied to my charts for the past few days, does FAPs use MT4s MA indicator or its own builtin that you can't see?

i've been trading GBBUSD and USDJPY as i normally do, I assumed it was from the low liquidity for the past week that had that was causing FAPs to make indecisive trades.

Can anyone shed any light?

Well that's happening because of the lack of direction in the markets. FAPS has the MA "indicator" or rather coding function builtin. You don't have to have the moving averages on your chart in other words.

And yes changing the time frame does affect the performance as then FAPS internal indicators will function differently. As to how this affects performance - in bad or good - it depends. I've seen one person on this forum use the M5 time frame (Earl I think is his username) with success. I prefer to stick to the M1 chart.

Also if you're in doubt about the integrity of your MT4 install, try reinstalling it (but make sure you backup your settings and FAPS first).

changing the time frames will change the way faps takes trades...every single setting does.....

I've spent a lot of time with faps

it is a profitable system, if you play with it you'll make it work

Me..well, I've been doing more of the same ol thing...busy with the forex nirvana forum and with various offline things..
