Hi all,

this is my second week using autopilot on my live account. I started with $1000. last week i made 181$. Right now I have an open trade that is -400 pips...ouch. all of my backtesting for the last five years was awesome. what happened today?

anyway, I decided to buy faps turbo. I fell for the marketing. they say it is much safer than other robots (autopilot). I'm hoping that it really does make wiser decisions, and can make use of it's internal stop loss features.

does anybody have any advice for me? should i use FAPS turbo, or should i continue to try with autopilot?

thanx

p.s. i figured i would try to start a FAP turbo thread also...

Only forward testing will tell, but FAPS and FAPS Turbo are both long term trading strategies. They are meant to produce profits in the long term and to be left alone with a reasonably high starting balance so that there is plenty of room for price fluctuations. FAPS has always performed better for me with a high starting balance ($5,000 or greater). Turbo does however have a scalping section to it which so far in my forward and back testing performs very well.

We know that FAPS is not the holy grail and there are a number of things it does not perform well at (reversals anyone), however with some babysitting and some tweaking we were able to find good settings for FAPS. I believe the same will happen with Turbo, it will have some flaws but hopefully it is a step forward from FAPS which it appears to be.

Just got my copy of the Turbo. I wonder if it's OK to discus this EA on this forum? Looks promising.
BTW, I like the way how the program puts info in the chart. (basically telling me to RTFM at this point :)

I believe Alan will be creating a section for Turbo but until then so long as we contain it to a single thread, I would think we will be OK. Once he has the new section up I would guess this thread and maybe one other would be moved over to it.

WARNING!!!

For those of you that are running ForexAutopilot on an account - DO NOT add FAPTurbo on to the same account as it will close any open trades - as I've just found out to my detriment! It has closed an open trade for a sizeable loss and doesn't seem to want the original FAP to trade at all.

I wonder if it would have closed the trades if you opened it on a new trading window?

They use the same magic number guys, if you plan to run both, change the magic number of one of them first.

Yes, i had a horrible trade of -400 pips in Autopilot. I add FAPTurbo and it close this losing trade in Autopilot. I am very unhappy with this problem today. How i can use these two systems? Only change the magical number, but wich is the correct number for magical number, any number can works fine?

From the FAP Turbo website:

Hence, we decided on a middle ground: a $97 per month subscription. That is fair...

And then, a few sentences later...

I am going to charge you a one time payment of only $97, no recurring billing...nothing!

I'm confused?

It is supposed to change to a monthly subscription at some point. If you bought it now you never have to pay the monthly subscription. You scored and got it at a one time $97. That is if it turns out to work.

Standard sales gimmick, limited time offer, blah blah blah :)

If you notice the EA even says licensed until 12-25-2008 which is one month from today which I would guess is to back up that claim but I don't see it happening.

Already done Sir. We have a brand spanking new FAPturbo section. Also I've setup separate sections for the two fapturbo strategies, this way we can keep our backtesting and settings discussions well organized.

This is a marketing technique to help keep people from returning the product before the 8 week return policy expires. They won't charge a monthly fee for this EA b/c it's really not that great. It just has a lot of features we could potentially fashion into something decent.

Customers need to download a new version of the Turbo every month. Its somewhere in the fabturbo guide. Seems there is a timer in the program disabling it at some point.

I'll admit that I haven't read the manual from front to cover yet, but that is disturbing. I do not like having to dl a new version every month simply for the fact of dl'ing it. I suppose this is some anti-piracy measure though, in which case it would be highly effective - until someone decompiles the EA lol.

Anyways, I just hope it at least bring a reasonable return monthly. I never expected it to double my account every 30 days - waay to unrealistic, especially to do it consistently. If it could do that what the heck would they sell it to us.

I loaded Turbo up last night to run on a demo account, and accidentally opened up my live account, I thought it was going to close my open trades but it did not.
But it did put Stop Losses in for them. I turned off EA for the weekend, hoping that I can finish recovering on Sunday.
I can't really complain, I was down 600 pips and it has come back a long ways. Closed off 2 of my open trades at a profit, and now only have 3 left open, but one has been open since the 20th and one since the 21st.
So Patience patience patience.

So does it mean two windows must have different numbers?

In a nutshell - yes.
