i've tested some of your settings last friday.. man i've almost doubled a 10k account in 6 hours !!!!!

what do you think.. would fap behave on a 600$ live account also this way?

You might want to bring the LLR down a little, but you max orders are low so you might not need to worry about it. Try back testing with a lower LLR and we what you get. Other than that everything else looks ok.

on m5 eurusd...

edit:

i've opened three new demo accounts on three different brokers.. the size is 10k$ ... on each account i made a profit of more than 1k$ till now!! - no losing trades!

is any one else negative 200+ on the eurusd?

I have test your setting earl for this week and for some reason i get two failed transactions on the 3rd. but in my forward testing demo there was no failure. i wonder if that is the heart attack max is talking about. what's up with that?

i plan on going live with your settings next week. but i'll probably do a risk of 3 with a max of 2 lots.

I have also a open trade with 200 pips lose, demo account. But all my trades went into profit, so don't worry for me :)
Funny enough guys I had this on demo and live. Demo went into a drawdown :eek:

Live was the opposite and went full speed into profits. wheww!!:rolleyes: I recommend lowering the Lots risk reducer depending on the amount of funds you have. I have lowered mines to 4.0.
I will increase the lots when I am at $10,000.:D

Like I said use at your own risk....it's has a 30% dd

and that's just the backtest average for 2008

I'm at 2400 bucks but today I have 2 trades at -802..... 33%

so I just got to wait... it's been buying at rock bottom...

using MA75-100 triggers the position everytime way to late at the end of the trend.

I know the problem...and I'm working on a fix...you could always use MA21

back test and see:D

I have a hunger to win..and that gives you a stomach to take losses...

to or die...I'll just wait it out

Anyone using the Demo or Live in around $1000 or $2000 ? Interested to seeth modifications you guys did for a low account. I'm about to test it live. But of course going to try it with the bare minimum.. Hehehe...

I do. Earl settings and lowered lots to 0.05 and sometimes using 0.1. Form 160$ earned 250$ from monday to thursday.

I think the key here is that he's running DEMO while you are running live..I'm using your settings LIVE and I for sure haven't had the same results he has.

Maybe the LRR had something to do with it too.Everything comes into place.

I currently have 2 buys, funny enough its heading to the buy tp then it just opened a sell and headed back down.:rolleyes:. Patience patience.... :cool:

I'm the one who's surprised. With all the setting changes people have tried, myself included, it's hard to believe this is a winner with standard aaa & bbb settings. Well, I've given it a try myself and since I made the setting changes FAP made 8 profitable trades over the last couple of hours. Thanks for your input. I've got a long way to go to rebuild my live account but every pip counts.

Also, soory - I should try to complete all my thoughts in one post.... but When you change the TP =10, do you adjust the S/L from 500 ? it seems you would have to get 50 wins to counter 1 loss, and all that hard work would be for nothing.

Dont have your ST at 1 on live. you will get trade clumping which can blow your account.

The higher the stop time the lower the risk.

I've been hedging it manually for the past week

I'm up to 3 grands in manual trades and 1991.81 with those two open trades

it's been a week...I got to work on new settings but MA21 with default sounds nice tp 10 cool

I lost in 3 trades $1500 on the 1.25XX, hence the newly adjusted 200 S/L. Thinking of upping it to 140 for some reason with the T/P remaining at 10 (30 tops). Hard lessons learned, but thats what demo accounts are for.

JMHO the 1M chart just doesn't perform quite as well as the M5 even with the default settings.

maxfactor, If you're going to tell FAPS to trade in one direction only the MA setting become irrelevant.

As for aaa & bbb settings I still use 20 & 8 on the M1 chart just like maxfactor. I found that even the default aaa & bbb settings work relatively well.

MA 21 LLR 4.0 MAX ORDERS 2 TP 10.

I tell you FAPS DECIDED NOT TO CLOSE MY TRADES ON LITEFOREX AND I GAINED OVER 2000 PIPS. Now if it did that on FXDD CAN YOU IMAGINE THE POSSIBILITIES? :D

So Earl is your account still hangin in there? What MA period were u using when you took this "beating".?I was actually using 34 type 2 price 2...

but it doesn't matter what MA you would use in the back test Fapds still takes that trade...for me at least

I was at 2000 or just under when it took that trade

I have been putting up pips ever since manually...but can't seem to hedge it out..until I contained it...

as it stands my account is at 9443.56 with 2626 equity and 6817 of unrealized loss

it might still come down...but I will pip away until it does:D

I'll see if I can hold it for a year...LOL until it goes back and I can get every single penny...LOL bahahahahahaha

The best thing you can do for a bad trade is lock it in and let it chase each other back and forth...

it stops your margin trouble....ie 200%

once you contain the loss your margin % dissapears and so does your margin trouble..Learned that to late..LOL

once it's locked you are free to continue trading and everything else that you make goes right into your equity...and thats what you want..

if you make a mistake...lockem up again..

keep trading...LOL

I took my hedge trade today at 3k...LOL but it did nothing for my equity...

learn about trading...do some trading

TRUE but for persons like me who arent experts in trading I see FAPS and the NEWS as a guide so while I have enough I will take a risk and open large lots when I see faps heading to TP. ;)

Ya it's dropped some but it won't be back in the 1.24xx anytime soon. I do think it's going to be heading back up though.

I'm not so sure. Hourly chart is showing a head and shoulders pattern forming. Neckline sloping down. US Unemployment is less than expected. this could turn right around very quickly. we may be looking back at 1.32.

Yes it is a very interesting day. Looking at the charts yes I see what you are talking about and I agree. But I'm still waiting on news for the auto bailout. I guess we'll see what happens......

Well I guess I should have looked before I posted that. The auto bailout passed!!! Looks like they'll get 17 million bucks. And looks like the EUR/USD has been falling pretty good. Might be time to set FAPS to sell only.

I sure hope this tax payer money in not just been thrown away. I think it just might keep the auto industry treading water for a bit longer still they drown.

I just copied and pasted this report for everyone. It's from Saxo Bank and they are predicting all of this for 2009.

Crude trading at $25. S&P 500 falls 50% to 500. China's GDP growth falls to zero. EURUSD falls to 0.95. Italy could leave the ERM. If Saxo Bank's 10 outrageous claims for the year ahead transpire, economic conditions will worsen dramatically in 2009. "The good thing is, overall, we predict 2009 will be a turning point because it can't get much worse" says Chief Economist David Karsbøl.
The Copenhagen-based online trading and investment specialist's predictions are an annual attempt to predict rare but high impact 'black swan' events that are beyond the realm of normal market expectations. Compiled as part of the bank's 2009 Outlook, the thought exercise this year present a dismal view of the global financial landscape.
Saxo Bank's Outrageous Claims for 2009:
1) There will be severe social unrest in Iran as lower oil prices mean that the government will not be able to uphold the supply of basic necessities.
2) Crude will trade at $25 as demand slows due to the worst global economic contraction since the great Depression.
3) S&P will hit 500 in 2009 because of falling earnings, vaporizing housing equity and increased cost of funds in the corporate sector.
4) The EU is likely to crack down on excessive government budget deficits in several member states, and Italy could live up to previous threats and leave the ERM completely.
5) The AUDJPY will drop to 40. The decline in the commodities markets will affect the Australian economy.

9) Reuters/ Jefferies CRB Index to drop to 30% to 150. The Commodity bubble is bursting, with speculative excesses so large they have skewed the demand and supply statistics.
10) 2009 will see the first Asian currencies to be pegged to CNY. Asian economies will increasingly look towards China to find new trade partners and scale down their hitherto US-centric agenda.
David Karsbøl, Chief Economist at Saxo Bank, comments:
"It is not even outrageous to call this the worst economic crisis ever. We have, regrettably, been rather precise in almost all predictions from last year. What used to be outrageous now seems to be the norm", says Karsbøl.

I am running both M1 and M5 - M1 will produce more trades than M5,but also M5 will have trades that M1 doesnt have and visa versa!! I am using LRR 4.0,to me every pip counts! ;)

started with $100. after 8 trading days(back testing) $800.

Hi all, great thread. I use almost the same settings as Earl and make $200-$300 daily but looking to move it up a peg. Strange thing happening now though, since December 23 no trades!, what is really strange though is that when I look under the "Experts" tag, I do not get the "Alligator Initialized" any more, am only trading EURUSD M1.
Anyone have any Ideas what is wrong, I did a hard disc cleanup that same day (23rd Dec) but have reloaded the history.

I read through all posts here, but I am a little confused.

1. About Earl's settings in the 1st post, which time-frame is best? M1 or M5? Also, which periodMA (21 or 34)? Stop time is 10?

2. About Maxfactor's settings: Do you change anything from Earl's original settings in the first post?

3. Alan's settings: Do you use default settings of FAP, and only change periodMA and time-frame?

I am really confused because all of the settings from 3 of you did have great results. I would like to learn your settings.

That's one variant - to use the default setting except to change the PeriodMA, but lately I've been using a mix of several settings (Earl's, ^eagle^'s, etc).

My thoughts also. I read every post on this link a couple of time and have been trying to figuare out the best settings. I appreciate all three of you, Alan, Earl & Maxfactor for your contributions to this post. It seems like it has helped a lot of people. But in reading over all the different posts, one seems to get confused with what different settings to use since all have changed them from now and then. I see Alan has posted his best settings and I hope that Earl and Max could please find the time to list theirs also. This would help us all out here. I will be going live next week and would like to demo all three of yours settings and figuare out what will work best. I just might find that all three of you have good returns with just a little twist of different settings..

settings works fine and i like it exept stoploose is too high. I set it to 80
Works well.

Want to thank you again Earl and also to Clolab for your replies about Alans settings being right on. I too think the SL is a little high, I think I will try your suggestion Clolab and set my SL to around 80. I will try and keep my results posted. Looks like me just might have a winner here. Like what I see and all that I have read. I really like this forum, there are losts of people here who are interested in helping other investors achieve success. I bump it up by a couple just to make sure that FAPS gets to open a trade. Sometimes when the market is going bonkers where the price moves very fast up and down, opening trades will get passed up because it will move out of the opening price. Pretty much lag time between opening the trade and getting it to the broker can take a few seconds. So by having it set to 5 will leave a few more pips of room to open the trade.

Hope you can answer this question. If I have a five decimal broker, should I add a 0 to the TP & SL That would make your settings TP 100 and SL at 3000 or are your setting set for a five decimal broker?

On another thought I tried to register on forexnirvana site today but the six letters or digits for Image Verification never was on the screen. I tried to refresh couple of times but image was never on registration page. I then tried to e/mail you about the problem, but in the e/mail form it also asked for me to write the Image Veification images, but of course there was not any letters or digits on there either Might need to fix that one. I do enjoy all your posts. Thanks
