View Full Version : FAP closing trades at th eend of th emonth solutions?
I run backtests and it's been growing all the time and just at the end of month bam close at stop!. So is there any solution for that? Or you need to manually watch the FAP when end of the month comes and don't let it trade day or even more before end of the month? Do you think they might come with fix in next update?

That would be fine if there comes an update. I have the same problem at the backtest, you make a nice profit but at the end close at stop en you lost. I you trade live i think its the best to stop you advisors a few days before the end of the month.

Its just a machine, so hopefully there will be new version coming soon to solve this problem... and do hope its free of charge :)
To check the effectiveness of FAPS setting using backtest, suggested to see either the account dropped to zero or not at the end of the month.
I divided it into three cathegory: low risk, medium risk and high risk.
Testing method month by month, Jan to Nov '08.
Low risk : profitable and without any lost to zero in each month.
Medium risk: higher profit but with potential lost or dropped to zero in one or two month.
High Risk : Highest profit but potential lost is high in each month.
Put recent month in higher weightage as consideration.

Here's a basic but important question regarding the close at end of month deal.
Does the autopilot have a mechanism that closes trades when it sees a trend reversal or not?
My suspicion is that it does not and uses the end of month close to end any trade that might be going badly, thus purging losses each month. However I have also noted when I'm backtesting with no stop loss that sometimes it can hold onto a losing trade for 2 months or more.
So whats the deal? If you change the thing so that it doesn't close a trade at the end of the month might you just be prolonging the agony of a trade gone bad.
Another question is, if you are working a strategy that has a stop loss, will FAP still close your open trades at the end of month?
means your lot size is too big....limit your lots if your using autolots:D

This is my first post...I am new to fapturbo but pretty used to trading forex. I have been demo-trading for 1 year and use a fibonacci-based trading method and strict MM.
I am not a believer in the holy grail; but my backtesting to date on this bot makes it look good. Regarding trades being closed at the end of each month, while I initially assumed that turning this off (which is simple to do with fapturbo, you don't need to close the ea at the end of the month or anything, just change the close trades after x months to zero) would lead to larger drawdown but more profit from a higher strike rate.
Testing from 2002-present shows that not closing at the end of each month leads to way less profit....less trades placed I guess as it gets trades stuck in negative territory and so can't open new trades and still stick with the plan.
I have just noticed after reading this forum my testing for the longterm eurusd strategy was only 25% modelling quality...my scalper tests are showing 90% so i'll work on getting the eurusd data as accurate; so if anyone finds different results or in fact that not closing trades at the end of each month proves to be more profitable; please let us know.
