FAPS not selling at +20...whats the deal?

iam using a demo account to learn FOREX trading...i have all the default setting and i believe everyting is install and running fine (got a nice =) next to the forexautopilot name).

my questions is that i think the setting is to sell off at +20 profit...however , when i watch my screen i see some trades getting to +20 and they do not sell of....why is this? thanks

If it is only SOME trades...
Then what you are probably seeing is the spread. That is the difference between the bid and ask price.

for example When you buy the price you pay is actually 3 pips lower than the market price if you have FXDD as your broker. To get to 20 pips you have to make up that difference on the other side of the trade. The price actually has to go 3 pips beyond the red line to take profit.


Some brokers charge less or more but the spread affects the Take profit.

If this is not the case then post up your input screen shots so we can further evaluate.

I believe you're most likely looking at the wrong side of the bid/ask quote.

Here, try this: Right click on any of the open trades in the Terminal tab and go to Profit and then select "As points"

Now watch FAPS trade and you'll see that as soon as +20 pips is reached the trade will be closed. You can also verify this by checking out the Account History tab (at the bottom of terminal window)

Hi all!
I'm new to the forum, but have been using FAP on and off since April this year. It performed 100% on my demo account but soon blew out my live account. I stopped using it, trying to get some more knowledge about forex and after the update started running FAP again on a demo this week. It is performing very well, but although the T/P is set at 20, it continues far past that. I have manually closed trades that were over 100. I don't have a lot of time to keep watching the trades, and some trades have turned while I was sleeping, so I really would prefer the FAP to actually close the trades at T/P level. Does anyone know how to get the FAP to actually close the trades? (The older version did not have that problem, it closed trades at 20 T/P)

I'm new to this too ;)
My trades all close when they hit the Take Profit. Click on the Smiley Face to open up the settings window and check the Stop loss value is set correctly.
I had to set mine to 200 as Alpari is now using 5-digits. check the activation code is ok, if all else fails try removing the robot and restarting metatrader.

Yes thats correct.
The other thing you could try is downloading the program again, it's possible something went wrong with the original download.

For 5 digit brokers the TP should be set at 200.0 NOT 20

If it still doesn't close trades after you've made sure you've got all your setting correctly (see the FAPS manual) then there may be something odd with your forex platform (unlikely though) so thy a different broker or reinstall it

Don't forget to make sure you have the latest version of FAPS (members website)

I still have some funds in my live account with the broker, but if I withdraw it, I'll have to pay in to have it TT seeing that the service fee for international transfers is more than my balance! I was hoping at some stage to add some funds and trade again with FAP.
I suppose I'll have to wait until my situation changes and I can spend more time infront of my screen to activate FAP so that I can watch it and close trades manually!

I forgot to mention aswell as setting the stoploss to 200 you also must set the
SlipPage parameter to 30
