Umm, well, supposedly we're officially in a recession too. But it'd say so far we are not as badly hurt as the US. This of course differs from province to province. Here in Ontario where I (and Earl) live the manufacturing sector has been hit pretty damn hard - especially automative and their supporting army small shops.

Ya doesn't a lot of auto parts get made in Canada and shipped down to the US?

That's right. I heard that the Ontario or Federal Government is thinking of providing financial asistance to the Canadian branches of the big 3 automotive companies. We shall see if it becomes a reality or not.

Well Alan I don't know what to think about that. I just don't see GM making it to the end of the year. GM has already stated they most likely won't make it to the end of the year. And even if there is an auto bailout the bill won't even pass till the end of January. And that's a big if. Ford might do alright, or at least last long enough if Volvo are to buy them out. But Chrysler is right behind GM though as far as failing. Hopefully it works out for you guys up there.

I hope so too, for the sake of thousands of people's jobs. Imagine how much it would suck to lose your job right around Christmas time

Ya of coarse I agree Alan.
What's really bad is knowing you're getting let go right after the holidays. Just thinking you can't spend any money on the family for the holidays because you know the inevitable is coming next month has got to be horrible. I feel for all of them
