...Coder’s Unite for a better EA
UPDATE Feb-5-2009
Here is the update to Project EA. IMPORTANT! Please rename the program. If you don’t know how, ask someone before you use it. I’m just a little paranoid about the brokers screwing with this one. They can reek havoc with a trade with error 128 TimeOuts, especially if you are a scalper.
Issues addressed:
4 & 5 digit brokers – enabled but not tested.
Hard closing orders (not by stops) with error checking
Modifying orders with error checking
Pivot filtering – creates a trade zone in between the Monthly, Weekly and Daily S/R levels. The trade zone can be adjusted by setting the Min/Max for the Pivot level.
Also, if you change the MaxOrders to zero no more orders will be made but the program’s ability to Close and Modify or TrailingStop will still function.
This is not optimized, as a matter of fact, the default levels are set to trade sort-a-like FAP.
Oh Ya - Enjoy!

Hi Zanwonton, thanks for sharing your talents. Although I am no coder I will be glad to assist in demo testing/backtesting your EAs.
I've been thinking of starting another forum dedicated soley to forex. I think it would be a better idea and keep things clean, this way we keep this forum specifically dedicated to the forex autopilot family of trading systems.
What do you think?

That is ASTOUNDING.
If Metatrader 4 is generally not paired up with ECN, personally I wouldnt mind scalping with fapturbo on an ECN broker but I'd really like to see someone code an awesome EA for use with an ECN enablerd broker like fastbrokerfx or whomever ppl think is best...
What do you think?

Hi there.
Firstly let me say thanks for a great site! I have been reading this intensely for tor the last month, so it's high time I registered and said hello.
Alam - yes I think it would be great to have a dedicated site or part of this site that deals with custom EA development. I took the plunge the other day and contacted a couple of developers. Getting a robot developed is not expensive and I think that there are enough knowledgable people on this Forum to make something good.
I also think it would be useful to have a section of the site where users can upload their settings for FAP / FAPTS. This could be in a table with things like broker used, profitable (1 - 5 stars), starting bank and a link with the settings used. You could have organize the table by profitability, risk, stars, etc. I think this would make the site easier to use and would cut down on a lot of repetition.
Other than that great work.
One last thing - is there any more news on the EA on this thread?

I'd like to report that I'm making progress on the new forum. I've got the domain and forum software all setup. I just gotta find a spiffy theme and setup some site support ads and the forum will be ready for primetime.
to baboon: I believe due to the technical limitations of the forum software we can't have a table as you described. I'll try to find a way to better organize and separate backtests from regular posts.

Come and get it?!?!
BETA - Use at your own RISK!!!!
OK, this one has a some new settings
aat = chart in minutes 1, 5, 15, 60 and so on.
bbt= same as aat
Tripstop = use this along with TP. For example, set your TP for 10 and Tripstop for 5. Then when the price spikes above 5 but does not reach 10 and then reverses, the tripstop will close the order.
Note: I use FXDD, if you set the Tripstop below 4 the close order will not go through. Other brokers may be different?
Edit: For FXDD, I do set my Tripstop to 5 to make sure it will go through.
Suggested other settings:
aaa 13
aat 5
bbb 14
bbt 1
TakeProfit 15
Tripstop 5
MAPeriod 21

One thing Zan, can you make it that the Trip stop will follow along the trade as it increases? Like a trailing stop but not quite.
So Tripstop of 5 and TP of 20:
When then trade is 6 pips up it will lock in 5, if it then gets to 11 pips up it will lock in 10 and so on and so forth.
(My idea would be to have a TP of like 40 and have the Tripstop kick in at 15 pips, then increase by 5 everytime it goes 5 pips in profit.)
