I changed my leverage to 200:1 with FXDD and it has now started making trades. At .1 lots though it's taking up quite a bit of margin. I think this account needs some additional funding for a proper test!

Strange, when I set up my account I could only go up to 100:1 Can I ask you how you did that, did you have to contact FXDD?

Yes. I just gave them a call and within 5 minutes of getting off the phone with them it was reset to 200:1.

Default I get the same message

Hi Alan, I'm also getting "You don't have free margin." I noticed there was talk about changing the lot size and also changing the leverage, but I don't want to use leverage. I have a $1000 account and I have my lot size set at
.1 Could you tell me why it says I don't have free margin and what I should do. Its not trading.

Thanks, bgrogers1

trading 0.1 lot (10K) on 1K account will require 10:1 or more leverage depending pair traded. so MT won't trade if your account has leverage less than required.

Default lot size

Hi Alan, Since my account is $1000 and I'm not using leverage I changed my lot size from .1 to .01 is that right?

hi bgrogers, size 0.01 lot will mean no leverage for pairs where USD is base currency (i.e. usdcad, usdchr.)

i am bit confused why you don't want to use leverage. return on fapturbo without leverage may be very small. you may want to run backtests (google for "MT strategy tester" if needed) to see what to expect.
