The location of the server/broker has nothing to do with the server's GMT setting. They can set ANY GMT setting on their servers if they please.

But bear in mind that the setting is NOT totally arbitrary. There are certain reasons why certain GMT server settings are better than others (having to do with when trading sessions start and overlap etc...)

In that case it would be the same value as your GMT value. IE if you're in GMT 0 and your broker's market watch time is also GMT 0 then obviously your GMT offset would be GMT = 0

But once again it is important that you STOP thinking about your GMT time...it is tottally irelevant. What matters are two variables

1) The official GMT time
2) Your broker's time (marketwatch)

Follow the method outlined in the first post and you should have no problems.

It's the same throughout the world...I'll repeat it one more time...your location DOES NOT matter...it's only the BROKER'S SERVER time that matters.

When you open your metatrader which your broker provided you with....

click on the "market watch" icon under and between "view" and "insert" there you will see your gmt time.

Default Can anyone give a better example

Im in Hawaii but you said not to use our timezone so I am using the Greenwich
time posted on the left it is 16:42(not my hawaii Greenwichtime) and my market watch time is 18:47. So the difference would be about 2 so my GMT Offset would be 2?
